The Psalms are the ancient prayers of the Jewish people, here paraphrased into contemporary language.
This Sunday's Psalm
Lord, teach us to realise how short is our life
so that we may truly seek your wisdom.
How long, O God, before you return to your servants,
showing your pity.
Satisfy our longings from early morning,
and we shall rejoice and be glad all our days.
As we have known days, even years, of affliction,
may your love fill us even more with joy.
May your works be revealed to your servants
and your glory to their children.
Let your beauty, O God, shine on us.
May you bless the work of our hands.
